Zach Bryan was arrested recently, saying “I’ll Go to Jail”. Zach Bryan, a famous country artist, was arrested in Oklahoma on September 7th. The reason for the arrest was the uncooperative behavior from Bryan, and his comment made towards the officer. Bryan was pulled over a few days before his arrest, in a small town in Oklahoma, for going over the speed limit. The sheriff then asked for Bryan’s license, registration, and address.
Bryan said “Look man, I don’t feel comfortable giving you my address, I’m a musician and I don’t feel comfortable with it.’’
The officer did not like that response and told Bryan he must give him the address, but he refused. The officer then told him to step out of the car where he proceeded to put handcuffs on Bryan. Bryan eventually agreed to his terms and ended up giving the officer his address.
A few days later, Bryan told his security guard he was going to drive to Boston that day to do some activities with his friend. They drove separately, and on their way home, Bryan’s friend got pulled over. Bryan then pulled off the road to wait for his friend, thinking it wouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes. However, the officer had other plans and was taking a very long time to let his friend go. Bryan was getting frustrated and eventually walked over to where his friend was pulled over. The officer told him many times to go back to his car, but Bryan didn’t listen. The officer told Bryan that he was going to arrest him and he came back with, “I’ll go to jail.” The officer put handcuffs on him and took him to jail. Bryan was eventually let out of jail and shook the officer’s hand in apology.
Students from Parkersburg South High School students had something to say about Zach Bryan’s arrest. Reagan Parsons, a senior, doesn’t know whether he should have gotten arrested but definitely should have not done the things he did. She stated that:
“I agree and disagree. I feel that he definitely could have been more calm when talking to the officer and could have been more appropriate with what he said. I also realize the officer could have given him like a warning about the way he was talking, but then again I feel like he is a person who knows there is a way you talk to an officer when you get pulled over… he has an influence on millions of peoples lives so he should definitely be more aware of how he talks. Overall, no I don’t think he should’ve been arrested. I think they should’ve gave [sic] him a warning and a ticket and if his tone and choices of words didn’t get better after that, then they should’ve arrested him.”
However, Tionna Worstell, also a senior thinks that Bryan had it coming all along. She says, “ I think he had it coming because he should’ve gotten back in his truck when the officer asked him to.”
They both agree that Bryan will handle situations in the future differently. Parsons said, “I do feel he will be more careful because I feel he understands that millions of people watch over him and it not only impacts him but also impacts other people from his actions.”Worstell stated, “I think he will be different in the future because he explained later that everything he said was out of anger and he shouldn’t have acted that way” Zach Bryan will hopefully learn from his actions and we can all move on from this situation.
